This week I saw Tim Bray at the W-JAX 2006. We first met in the speakers dining on the first day of the conference. I was sitting beside him and Mark Hapner, and he told that it was planned to announce Java to become open source during his keynote.
But unfortunately this plan was changed, no more announcement at the W-JAX, and this because of the elections in the USA. There is no space left in the news, so Sun postponed it.
So Tim announced in the keynote that he not going to announce Java becoming open source, what IMHO seems to me like an announcement… ;-)
So, for all nonbelievers, here is the slide from his keynote!
